To the Editor:
In reference to the article on the meeting of commissioners the week of April 16, I am surprised no one has commented on the conduct of Mr. Tom Wheaton with regard to Mr. Larry Garner’s lack of experience with computers (glorified typewriters) and society’s new reference books (the Internet). I do believe the people of this county elected Mr. Garner for more important abilities such as intellect, organization skills and, most of all, common sense.
E-mails are almost passé. Texting is on the horizon. Next year, something new. Computers can only manipulate informating and they are cumbersome and time consuming. Some people use them for show and to look productive. We do not have to worry about that with Mr. Garner.
Carroll County people will not put up with badgering and bullying. They want their representative to get the job done. When we voted in Mr. Garner, we were aware that he has a full-time job and his clients are widespread over many states. I hope Mr. Wheaton has the decency to pick up the phone and call Mr. Garner from now on and treat him with the respect he deserves.
Doris Knapp
