To the Editor:
As the first hint of spring approaches, I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the thousands of Postal Service employees in the Northern Ohio District who kept the mail moving during the heavy snowstorms of this past winter.
Before the one-foot plus snowfalls and the chilling arctic weather are forgotten, I want to express my appreciation to all of our letter carriers who were out trying to make deliveries in conditions that kept many of their customers home. Thanks also to those who work in Post Offices and mail processing facilities. Your overcoming the elements kept the mail moving. The roads may not have been completely cleared, sidewalks and drives not yet shoveled and salt not yet thrown down, but you went out to fulfill your obligations as public servants.
Even in the worst of the weather you recognized how important you are to those who rely on the mail, in good times and in bad. Even in the worst of the weather, you made sure that the vast majority of the mail was collected, processed and delivered. You are a testament to the spirit of the Postal Service. I am proud of your dedication and commitment to serving the American public.
