To the Editor:
What has happened to Haiti is just heartbreaking. I have watched the media and realized a 99-cent bottle of peroxide could save a child’s life. If you thought you could make a difference to even one child in this world you would. Well, you can and it doesn’t have to be in Haiti. You can make a difference right here!

My fifth grade student came home from school a few months ago and told me the pencil sharpener in the classroom was broken. Then just recently, My son told me he was told he should not have gone to the other classroom to sharpen his pencil before class. Yes, he could have, but he shouldn’t have to. I went to DrugMart and purchased a desk mounted pencil sharpener, pencils and a glue stick for the classroom. It feels good to know that, even though classroom supplies are a tax write off for teachers, I made a difference to the entire classroom!

Parents, ask your kids what their classroom needs. Donate! This may make a big difference in your child’s education.

Mrs. Sherry Monk
Carrollton, OH
