To the Editor:
The Coley’s Stag Reunion committee would like to thank all of the patrons that attended this year’s reunion.
2011 was the 71st anniversary of the beginning of one of Carrollton’s most famous landmarks. As the story goes, Russel was 18 when he bought he stag and managed the business for 57 years until its closing in 1987. With his permission and the support of his family, our committee has continued to bring people together for one day to remember this ”famous institution of higher learning”.
None of this would be possible if not for the support of the following: The Cole family reunion, Jim Long and his family, the Ron Davis family, Gary Roof, Mesler’s roll-off, Leroy VanHorne, Cintas, Anheuser-Busch, Carrollton Civic Club, the volunteer workers, Janna Wheeler, Rich Jones, Don’s Custom Meats, Thorne’s Market, Betty Kaye Bakery, D & D Appliances, Food Distributors, Carrollton Ace Hardware, Choice Brands of Ohio, Carrollton Schools, John Rutledge, Pepsi-Cola, Lion’s Den, Gordon’s Graphics, Don Rutledge, Baxter’s General Store, Jim Myers, Furey’s Wheel World, W C Bunting Company, Tim Shriver, Pat Ullom, Jim and Randy Simon of Bluebird Farm and the Village of Carrollton.
We would like to also thank all of you that come out every year and support the auction and the event. Proceeds will provide scholarships again this year. If anyone would like additional 2011 chili bowls they can be purchased for $10 by calling 330-627-5747. Supply is limited, approximately 1and a half dozen and they will be sold first come first served.
The committee has already begun preparations for next year’s reunion which will be the 25th anniversary of the closing, so mark your calendar for Friday, Nov. 23, 2012. Also, there will probably be a new permanent location for all future Coley’s reunions and that will be at Long’s Lockups on Canton Rd. Be sure to look at the website www.coleystag.com for the latest pictures and updates.
