To the Editor:
A Solemn Assembly, for such a time as this, is being called for by a National Day of Prayer (NDP) Task Force in Washington, D.C, from Oct. 3-7.
This special five-day prayer gathering, based on Psalm 50:1-6 focuses on all institutions of our government within Washington D.C. and includes outdoor, corporate worship near the steps of the Capitol as well as at the base of the Washington Monument. Groups will meet with various Congressional leaders, travel to the Pentagon, Supreme Court and many other key locations to pray. All are invited to join with other open-minded believers for this special and unique time of prayer and worship in our nation’s capital.
The NDP Task Force reminds us as citizens of the USA who have grown up pledging allegiance as “one nation under God” and have had an ever present reminder imprinted on our currency that it is “In God We Trust” to rally Americans and call upon the God who still rules and reigns over our country. (Amos 4:13).
This five-day summons also reflects the urgency of the moment and prompting of God who has paved the way for us to stand in the gap on behalf of all Americans, perhaps as Moses did for Israel. (Exodus 32, Psalm 106)
Beginning in September, the Task Force is also issuing a challenge to like-minded believers to pray for America and encourage others around them to seek the Lord on a deeper level, commit to pray with family members, a prayer group or church members.
