To the Editor:
I would like to let the taxpayers of the Carrollton School District know where their money is going: in the dumpster!
A couple weeks ago, I took a walk around Willis School. What I found shocked me. I found a huge roll-off dumpster in the parking lot. I could see lots of things hanging out of it. I decided to take a look. I found boxes and boxes of books and other school supplies. I could not believe they would throw them out instead of giving them to the children.
It made me sick to my stomach that they would pay to have someone haul it away. In this day and age of recycling, why would they opt to take it to a landfill? I was worried about the books getting ruined so I went home and got my four children and went back. We took at least 10 boxes of books out of the dumpster. We could have taken more (we also found a small piano). One of the books was a text book my daughter said she has in her classroom right now. We, as taxpayers do not want our money going into the dumpster. If you want us to vote for a new school, lets use the money wisely. If you don’t want to keep everything, let some of the mothers know; we could help.
