To the Editor:
Carrollton elementary school is looking forward to another great year. The 2010-11 school year proved to be a great year for the students and staff.
During the month of August, the Ohio Department of Education rated our school as Excellent with Distinction.
One way the Department of Education evaluates a building is by the number of indicators met. As a building, we met eight out of eight (100%) indicators. Other ways a building is evaluated is by Adequate Yearly Progress and Value Added.
Our building also met that criteria. Our staff, students and parents should be proud of the hard work they put into achieve these accomplishments.
There have been several changes at our building for the new school year.
We are also glad to have the pre-school at our elementary school. For many years, they have been located on Scio Road. We feel it will benefit all individuals because of having them feel they are part of the entire school.
Another change was adding rubber mulch to our playground to replace the old wood mulch. We greatly appreciate our PTO by making the contributions to purchase the mulch. We are excited for this year.
Our teachers have been hard at work in their classrooms preparing for the upcoming school year. Last but not least, our custodial staff has worked the entire summer making improvements and preparing classrooms for the school year.
