To the Editor:
We would like to personally thank each of the Carrollton businesses that so graciously welcomed our kindergarten students to their places of work. Our gratitude to Shirley Anderson who toured us through the McCook House, Jack Swinehart and the Carroll County Volunteer Fire Department a close up look at their gear and fire truck, Tonya Carter at Hair Etc. for mini-manicures, Casen Leggett and Targan Peterson for a gel and style, Bruce Burgett and Dave Leggett at the feed mill for the tour and treats and Jennifer Fox at the Carroll County Advancement of the Arts Center for the tour of their student artwork show.
We were rained out on the days we were to tour our jail and courthouse, but a special thanks to Col. Jennifer Ferguson and Sonya Leggett at the commissioners’s office for planning time in their days for us to visit.
These walking field trips at the end of the school year provide our students with background information and life experiences that help them expand their vocabularies, making them better readers down the road.
Our appreciation to a community that not only says they care about kids, but to a community that also shows it by sharing their time and talents.
Hats off to each of you!
Mrs. Stacy Barto
Mrs. Jeannette Swinehart
Mrs. Lisa Truman
