To the Editor:
Yes Virginia, there is a Grinch and apparently he/she was determined to ruin the Christmas Spirit within the village of Carrollton.
It seems that Christmas decorations throughout the area are being stolen, mine included. I was very saddened to think someone would go to the extent of trespassing on private property and steal various holiday decorations aimed at brightening the spirit of children and those enjoying the cheer of the holiday season. To the adults who are doing this antisocial behavior: shame on you! The message to your family and children contradicts the true meaning of the holiday season. Realize too, that if you are in need of assistance for your family during the holiday season, there are a number of organizations willing to help you in lieu of theft.
To the youth who may think this is funny to steal/vandalize decorations from people: shame on you! Your acts are not humorous nor are they leading you anywhere positive. There are many more constructive and prosocial activities you can engage in that will lead you to success instead of a path toward a correctional facility. In my employment of corrections, we promote the message of restorative justice and changed ones negative thinking patterns and behavioral technique. I encourage the person or persons who stole my Happy Holiday Air Inflatable Moose family (you know who you are) to do the right thing and return it to my yard!
