Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor:
There is a strong group of people (out of state casinos, church groups) who call themselves “Truth Pac”. These people distort the truth, read things into Issue 3 that are not there, and sometimes, just out and out lie. That is a shame. If it is not going to hurt you why are you so heavily against it?

Here are some points in Issue 3 to ponder:

1. 51% (of casino revenue) goes to all 88 counties in proportion to the population with half of it going to the largest city, only if the population of that city is greater than 80,000.

2. 34% goes to the 88 counties in proportion to each county’s respective public school district student populations. Each public school district will decide how it will be implemented, but it is only to be used to support primary and secondary education. It should be used to supplement, not supplant any funding obligations of the state.

3. 5% goes to the casino host cites.

4. 3% to fund the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

5. 2% to a state fund for training opportunities for Ohio law enforcement community.

6. 2% to a state fund for the treatment of problem gambling substance abuse and related research.

Nowhere does it have any statements as to where the employees will come from. It does establish the Ohio Casino Control Commission to license and regulate casino gaming. (It also) states there will be four facilities and the Commission will regulate the employees of the facilities.

It will require the General Assembly to pass laws within six months of the effective date of the Amendment to facilitate the operation of the amendment.

Sincerely yours,
Ralph L. Lloyd
Carrollton, OH
