To the Editor:
It is with overwhelming gratitude and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out and supported us for our huge annual rummage sale at Garner’s Auction Barn on Saturday May 29, 2010 and for all the donated items given to us to sell for this great fund-raiser! We raised over $1500.00. The winner of the 50/50 raffle was Stephanie McCleary of Uhrichsville. Thank you to all our adult and junior members and friends who helped in any way to put it together to make it a great success!
The winner of the 50/50 at the Consumer’s fund-raiser in April was Nick Sweeney of Carrollton, and the winner of the 50/50 at the Lake Mohawk yard sale in May was Bev Scott of Malvern who donated her winnings back to us! Thank you Bev!
We are working hard to make an animal shelter happen in Carroll County. It has been three years since we formed this organization, and we hope the public will continue to have patience with us as certain phases to get to the actual construction of the animal shelter take time and funding. We are striving to move forward with different project phases to reach the goal of an animal shelter with enthusiasm and diligence to make it happen. For more information on our growing organization or how you can help us reach our goal of an animal shelter for Carroll County, please visit our website at: www.ccapl.webs.com or call Patti Willoughby our treasurer and public relations person.
We are almost ready to install and complete the Phase III project, which is the two-way driveway entrance on the land we purchased on Canton Rd. July 1st, 2009. Mike Hettler of Hettler Engineering is sending out bid packets to contractors with the ODOT regulations for this project which will cost approximately $12,500 to install and we are ready to make this happen.
From our fund-raising activities and the gracious public’s donations of support we have raised the money to put in the two-way driveway entrance and we could not have accomplished this without the added funding of $5,500.00 from the following foundations, civic organizations and CCAPL members: Carroll Electric Co-op People for People Fund -$1,000.00; Carroll County Foundation- $750.00; John H. & Evelyn L. Ashton Preservation Foundation-$500.00; Malvern American Legion Post #375- $400.00; Minerva American Legion Post #357- $200.00; Carrollton American Legion Post #278 - $200.00; Malvern Alpha Sorosis Ladies Group - $100.00; Great Divide Ruritan Club - $50.00, and $2,300.00 from CCAPL members! More funding is being pursued with diligence and perseverance for our other phases of construction.
Many thanks to everyone for your belief in us and your continued support which is so encouraging and greatly appreciated!
