To the Editor:
Here I am, at it again. I wrote last year and you published it, which made us all very happy and proud to be here. We live in a great community, but I don’t think some of the people know how blessed we are. The folks out here are a very, very special group. The church came to the rest home to sing, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts brought us Valentine’s Day cookies and we have a lot of volunteers here too. My writing is leaving me. I’ll be 90 in June. I can think of things I want to say but have a time writing them; I guess I need a secretary. As for us here, we are so very blessed to have the working people; everyone knows Ollie Hawkins, she’s just one of us. Then her helpers, Bev Hill and Cara, work in the office. We have wonderful nurse’s aides. You can never replace their kindness and work. Then there’s the kitchen crew. They come up with some surprises for us and make sure we are well fed. The people who clean here are great. Every inch of the place is immaculate. The volunteers are great. I just want everyone to know how much we care and to thank them.
We don’t just always snack either. We do activities, games and other things every day with Kathy Horn and Barbara. They come up with some interesting things to do and we have a ball for those who are able.
We can’t wait for summer and the parades. We go to Augusta Strawberry Festival, Magnolia, Malvern, Minerva and more. They decorate the bus with balloons and we throw candy for the kids.
This is my family. I sure didn’t think so at first, but in a short time, I have learned so much and am very lucky to have this home. I’ve been there for one and half years now and can never be more blessed by God and all these people and that includes everyone. Many thanks to everyone. God Bless you all.
