To the Editor:
On behalf of Boy Scout Troop 141, I would like to again thank all the great people in our community who supported the annual Ham Dinner. It is always a pleasure to see all those familiar faces and, we also miss all those who have passed. Our community is changing, but it seems we have brought the scouting program in Carrollton through many years of keeping it strong and pure to what the scouting oath and law says.

Now our National Council wants to change what we have lived by for over 100 years. The council is listening to small groups that scream very loud. These groups are the gays and lesbian movements, which I believe have a place in our world, but not in a youth organization that is for boys 11 to 18 years of age.
We need the help of the people, churches, politicians and civic groups to scream louder. I think if we stand by and do nothing, it will be the beginning of the end of one of the greatest youth organizations we have for young men in the United States.

I don’t know how I will take it if National Council votes to allow them to join. I’m sure there will be much more in the media in the future. I will find out the addresses where we can write or email our comments. Please take the time to call or talk to someone about this matter. Let’s keep scouting strong.
