Fred Merle Senften

Fred Merle Senften, 82, of Lake Dr., Carrollton died April 4, 2008, in Cleona, PA. following an extended illness.

Born Dec. 21, 1925, in Navarre, he was the son of the late Albertin and Harriet Edwards Senften.

He retired in 1980 from Republic Steel in Canton after 32 years service as a production manager.  He was a WWII Army Air Corp. veteran.  He was a member of Church of Christ Christian Disciples and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Mary Jane Notter whom he married Nov. 11, 1972; four sons, Tim (Barbara) Notter of Clifton Springs, NY, Eric (Sheri) Notter of Cleona, PA., Stewart Senften of Massillon and Stan Senften of Canton; a brother, Jack (Evelyn) Senften of Canton and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

A memorial celebrating his life will be held April 19 at 11 a.m. in Carrollton Church of Christ Christian on Moody Ave. with Rev. Mike Doak officiating.  Military services will be provided by American Legion, VFW and DAV.  Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.  Memorial donations in Merle's name may be made to Church of Christ Christian or the donor's favorite charity.  Arrangements were under the care and guidance of Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home.
