James A. "Jamie" Mitchell, 33, of Bowerston, died March 24, 2008, as the result of injuries he sustained in a farm equipment accident.
Born May 20, 1974, at Dover, he was a son of Diane Emery Fowler and her husband, Dennis Fowler, and the late Albert James Mitchell, who died in 1994.
He graduated from Conotton Valley High School in 1993, where he studied in the electrical program at Buckeye Career Center. Immediately following graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps, and served six years, until 1999. He attended Kent State University and was an employee of The Timken Company.
He was deployed to Iraq with the 706th Transportation Company between November 2003, and February 2005 as part of the Army Reserve.
He is survived by his wife, the former Amanda Patterson whom he married Aug. 19, 2000; two daughters, LeeAnna and Autumn, both of the home; his mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Karen Quinn Patterson, of Bowerston; two sisters, Laura (Dan) Renicker of Sherrodsville and Jennifer (Michael) Booth of Sherrodsville; a brother, Dennis (Alyssa) Mitchell of Sherrodsville; a brother-in-law, Christopher (Natalie Snyder) Patterson, of Maysville, KY; several nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 28, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held March 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Bowling officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Sherrodsville Memory Gardens.
