Rita Mae Stitt

Rita Mae StittRita Mae Stitt, age 85 of Carrollton, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at the Laurel's of Massillon. 

Born Feb. 22, 1925, in Louisville, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Florence (Sisterhen) Petch. 

She was a talented dancer who taught dancing in Canton and Louisville.  She danced professionally in New York City and toured the South Pacific with the USO during World War II.  She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Walter "Bill" and Sheri Stitt of Davidson, N.C., Patrick and Darla Stitt of Carrollton, and Joseph and Brandi Stitt of Bowling Green, KY; daughters and sons-in-law, Deidre and John Finnegan of Fulshear, TX, and Mary Anne and Roger Coen of Carrollton; sister, Teresa Petch of North Canton; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Richard Stitt and brother, William E. Petch. 

 A memorial mass will be held Friday, Sept 17, 2010, at 1 p.m.. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Carrollton with Fr. Anthony Batt celebrant.  There will be no calling hours. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carroll County Humane Society, 1128 Antiqua Rd. S.W., Carrollton, Ohio 44615.
