Dorothy Luetta DeNoon

Dorothy Luetta DeNoon, age 83, of Carrollton passed away peacefully in her home Sunday night, Nov. 28, 2010, following a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 28, 1927, in Akron, she was a daughter of the late Reverend Ambert Ray and Etta (Blake) Sands.

She was a member of the former Church of the First Born Church in Carrollton, started by her father the late Ambert R. Sands.  She was very active in the church and was the past director of the Singing Christians of Carrollton.  She was a housewife and worked at 5 &10 stores in Akron and Carrollton.  She enjoyed singing with the Christian Women's Choral group and square dancing with Burliques of Minerva.  She attended Four Square Church in Carrollton.
She is survived by her husband, Fred E. DeNoon, whom she married June 9, 1952; four sons, Charles D. (Barbara Skinner) DeNoon of Carrollton, Larry (Pat Mohn) DeNoon of Minerva, John DeNoon of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Fred M. DeNoon of Carrollton; a daughter, Kathleen (DeNoon) Franks of Carrollton; a brother, Jim (Carol) Sands of Lehigh Acres, FL; a sister, Freda (Saling) Frase of Louisville; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ora Deloris Sands and one grandson, Jeremiah DeNoon. 

The family would like to thank Hospice, the staff at Carroll Healthcare Center and Carroll County Meals on Wheels.

Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home in Carrollton.  Burial will follow in Herrington Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery in Mechanicstown.  Lunch will follow committal service in the church basement.  Calling hours are Dec. 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
