Raymond Schmeltzer

Raymond Schmeltzer, 63, formerly of Carrollton and recently of Akron, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009.

Born Oct. 15, 1945, in Akron, he was a son of the late Carl and Francis Schmeltzer.

He was a US Navy veteran and a retired truck driver for British Petroleum.  He loved flea markets, hunting and fishing and spending time with his friends and family.  He was very generous and enjoyed watching others enjoy life.

He is survived by a son, Mike (Leslie) Schmeltzer of Akron; daughter,  Melissa (Patrick) Weekley of Pompano Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Jenna and Roxanne; a brother, Carl (Pat) Schmeltzer of Copley; sisters, Carol Runk of Barberton and Betty (Tim) McEwen of Wadsworth and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Allen Schmeltzer and a sister, Jociel Drexler.

The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth.  Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
