Charles Grunder
Charles Grunder, 83, passed away April 6, 2010, on his home farm from lung cancer.
Born Oct. 15, 1926, he was a son of the late George and Alma Webster Grunder.
Charles was a graduate of Carrollton High School class of 1944 and a World War II veteran. He was employed at Timken Bearing and Tyson Bearing and a farmer. He was an avid bowler and euchre player.
He is survived by his wife, the former Norma Scott, whom he married May 12, 1954; four sons, Jeff and Jim of Carrollton, Scott of Cincinnati, Dan (Amber) of Harlem Springs; daughter, Kathy (Patrick) Brown of Minerva; five grandchildren, Ashleigh Johnson, Amanda, Derek, and Travis Brown, and Rebecca Grunder; brother, David of Carrollton; sister, Elaine Manson of Carrollton; several nieces and nephews and the following girls who made his retirement years so enjoyable, Bridget and Allison Campbell; Sarah, Shelly, and Sally Schmachtenberger; and Maci and Harli Ulman.
He was preceded in death by brother, O.J. Grunder; and sisters, Doris Minor, Maxine Drake, and Carol Preston.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 9 at 12p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Gerald Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow in New Harrisburg Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral.
