William L. Johnson
William L. Johnson, 85, of Carrollton, passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family.
Born Oct. 10, 1925, in Wellsburg, WV, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Martha Porter Johnson.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Merchant Marine. He retired as a self-employed electrician.
Along with his wife, the former Mary Heinzman, he is survived by his beloved pet, Odie; four sons, Shawn (Maggie Bell) Johnson of the home; William (Betty) Johnson of Carrollton, Robert (Mary) Johnson of Dennison, and Gary (Eloise) Johnson of Mechanicsburg, PA; a daughter JoAnn (Ed) Hilliard of Carrollton; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Johnson of Weirton, WV.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Molly McGrew officiating. A celebration of life dinner will follow at the Depot Bar and Grill in Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of service.
