Freda Shirley Gorney

Freda Shirley Gorney, age 89, of Carrollton passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, in Great Trail Care Center.

Born Nov. 18, 1919, in Ocean Mines, WV, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Anna (Brown) Bonner.

She married Chester Gorney on July 5, 1950, and he passed away in 1971. She was a member of Harsh Memorial United Methodist Church in Harlem Springs and was a sales clerk for several years at Ashton's 5 & 10 Store.

She is survived by one son, Wayne (Teresa) Gorney of Carrollton; two daughters, Nancy (Butch) Weals of Carrollton and Sandra Gorney of Farmington, MI; three grandchildren, Horace Daniel Weals, Amanda (Joe) Jute and Desarae Gorney and five great grandchildren, Horace Andrew Weals, Kali Dawn Weals, Kyle Josef Jute, Danelle Freda Weals and Colton Douglas Weals.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Oct. 14 in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Silver officiating.  Burial followed in Harlem Springs Cemetery.
