Mary Alice Pyles
Mary Alice Pyles, 92, of Carrollton, passed away July 17, 2010.
Born April 29, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Clarence R. Carpenter and Edna (Mincks) Carpenter.
Alice graduated from Carrollton High School Class of 1936. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carrollton.
She was married to the late Donald F. Hiler on Aug. 7, 1937, until his death Jan. 18, 1945. She then married Fred J. Pyles on May 11, 1946, until his death May 4, 1992.
She enjoyed being a great wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an avid card and euchre player with Fred, family, friends and at the Carrollton and Minerva Senior Centers.
She is survived by two sons, Richard C. Hiler of Las Vegas, NV, and Gary A. (Pam) Pyles of Lancaster; a daughter, Diane K. Pyles of Carrollton; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with a sixth expected in September; three sisters, Gladys George of Tallmadge, Betty Roudebush of Carrollton and Donna (Robert) Lind of Englewood, FL, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Carpenter and one great-grandchild.
Funeral Services were held July 21 at Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Chad Durfee officiating. Burial followed in Westview Cemetery in Carrollton.
