Eleanor Pierson Matthews

Eleanor Pierson Matthews, age 88, of Carrollton passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, in her home.

Born Aug. 6, 1920, in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Willis T. and Mary Ann (Koch) Pierson.

She was a graduate of Miami of Ohio University.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed her grandchildren, her hobbies and was an avid reader.

She is survived by two daughters, Jean Martin of Carrollton and Jan (Neal) Cohen of Gainesville, FL; four grandchildren, Geoff Martin, Lauren Martin, Matthew (Leah) Cohen and Richard Cohen; two great grandchildren, Sawyer Cohen and Grady Cohen and a brother, Richard (Mary Jane) Pierson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Matthews, whom she married April 30, 1945, and who passed away July 26, 2003, and a brother.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26 at 11 a.m. in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home with Bob Main officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Cleveland.  Calling hours are Thursday, June 25 from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
