(Thelma) Jean Henderson
(Thelma) Jean Henderson, 71, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was strong and brave through a long struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Born March 16, 1939, in Georgetown, she was the daughter of the late Charles William Stewart and Mary Emma Moore Stewart.
She married Stuart Henderson, Jr. on January 29, 1960. Jean & Stuart celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. They raised three children on their farm near Tappan Lake. Their marriage grew strong through the years of happiness and remained strong. The trials that life brings made them hold each other closer. Their family will always be grateful for their example of love.
Jean was a homemaker and enjoyed being with her family. Along with this life-long devotion, she was able to do many things she loved. She operated a successful jewelry business known as Jean's Jewels. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, Scio Civic Club, and Harrison County Democratic Women. She was active with shopping trips and traveled the world with friends and family. She loved to read, embroider, quilt, play bingo, and entertain. She especially loved hosting and entertaining company at her restored log cabin near Tappan Lake. Most of all, she loved having her family close. During the last few months of her life, she found comfort and joy in constant attendance of family and friends in the home. Many evenings found Jean, Stuart, their children and grandchildren enjoying family time with dinners provided by family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Stuart; children, Vickey (Dave) Chrisman, Mike Henderson, and Peggy Henderson; grandchildren who will miss her greatly, Megan Thomas Fischer, Kayla (Josh) Daniels, Jacquelyn Knight, Marcus Henderson, and Brett Knight; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Annabelle Fischer, and Noele and Elsie Daniel; three step-grandchildren, Dirk (Danielle), Damien (Wendy), and Davey (Cody) Chrisman; step-great-grandchildren, Corey, Drew, Alex, Devon, Drake, Davis, and Brody; a sister, Vivian (Ray) Zeyer; a brother Ed, (Judy) Stewart; sisters-in-law; Barb (Jerry) Besozzi and Marsha Henderson, and a brother-in-law, Bill Henderson.
Jean will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was a shining star in our lives. Her zest for life and love of family and friends will be remembered always.
