Charles Ray Long
Charles Ray Long, 86, of Carrollton passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at home on his farm.
Born June 9, 1924, in Lee Township, Carroll County, he was a son of the late Charles Denton and Margaret McCort Long.
In the late 1940's, Ray began driving milk truck, delivering to Hollywood Candy Company in Malvern. He went to work for James' Brothers Coal Company before going to work for the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1963, and retiring from there in 1987. He enjoyed farming and raising milk cows before switching to beef cattle in the mid-1990s.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rhoda M. White, whom he married Oct. 19, 1948; two sisters, Helen Myers and Shirley Beiber and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl D. Long and a sister, Dorothy Hendrix.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home with Rev. Kimberly Arbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Harlem Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. |
