Dempsey "Jack" Knight
Dempsey "Jack" Knight, 81, of Carrollton, formerly of Dalton, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, in Aultman Compassionate Care Center of Canton.
Born June 18, 1932, in Braxton County, WV, he was a son to the late Elbert and Mary (Hosey) Knight.
Jack retired in 1997 from Ben Imhoff Construction. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and attending sporting and special events of his grandchildren. In recent years, taking drives in the country and looking for wildlife became his favorite pastime.
Jack is survived by his wife, Wilda Burton, whom he married Oct. 15, 1964; children, Janet (Dan) Bednarz of Carleton, MI, Donna (Dean) Ott of Carrollton, David (Sharon) Knight of East Canton, Kathy (Brian Luckring) Knight of Brewster, and Vicki Knight of Carrollton; grandchildren, Justin and Allison Bednarz, Zachary and Jaclyn Ott, Jack and Bryar Knight, and Jordan Knight; sister, Nadine Knight of Buckhannon, WV; brother, Dorn Knight of Fredericksburg, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Madeline Knight, Kelsey Wilson, Erma Lucky, and Tabitha Skidmore, and brothers, Leonard, Wade, Tracil, and Lionel Knight.
The family would like to thank the many individuals at Aultman Hospital and Aultman Compassionate Care Center for their wonderful care.
Cremation has taken place and there are no services or calling hours planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jack's memory to Aultman Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708.
Ohio Cremation and Professional Services, Mark R. Vrabel Funeral Home in North Canton was in charge of arrangements.
