Frederick Garland

Frederick Garland, 78, beloved husband to Hiroko, cherished father of Patricia and Michael and adored “Pop” to Jillian-Marie, Savannah, Victoria, and Riley, passed away June 15, 2011, at home in San Antonio, TX.

Born July 10, 1932, in East Springfield, he was the son of the late Joseph Garland and Theresa Garland Shalaty. 

A Naval Korean Conflict and Air Force Vietnam veteran, Fred retired after serving proudly for 28 years.  He was a U.S. Postal Service retiree after almost 15 years. 

In addition to being survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by sisters, Shirley Horwatt of Cleveland, OH, and Carol Huck of Waterford, OH. 

He was preceded by his brother Joseph. 

A memorial Service was held Wednesday June 29 at Fort Sam National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX, with full Air Force Military Honors.
