Leona Elizabeth Jackson

Leona Elizabeth Jackson, 91, of Minerva, celebrated her heavenly homecoming as angels ushered her into the presence of Christ on Saturday, May 16, 2009.

Born July 30, 1917, in Barnesville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Minnie (Bauer) Fankhauser.

Her family moved to the Minerva area in 1921 where she grew up as a farmer's daughter and later a farmer's wife.  She was an avid gardener and homemaker. A graduate of Augusta High School, Leona drove school bus for Minerva Local Schools for 23 years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Minerva, U & I Sunday school class; Busy Bells Card Club, New Idea Club, Bayard Grange and Rebecca Lodge.

She is survived by a daughter, Ellen (Jerry) Anglim of Grove City; a son, Allen (Sharon) Jackson of Pataskala; grandchildren, Joseph (Jennifer) Anglim of Atlanta, GA, Larissa (Chris) Moore of Westerville, Nicole Jackson of Pataskala, and Brandon Jackson of Oxford; one great-grandchild, Blake Anglim; a sister, Velma (Elmer) Steves of Minerva; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Jackson in 1993, and her brother Arthur Fankhauser.

Funeral Services were held at First Christian Church of Minerva May 20 with Mr. Ralph Norman officiating.  Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery. Bartley Funeral Home of Minerva was in charge of arrangements.
