Thomas Clements McAdoo
Thomas Clements McAdoo, 87, of Carrollton passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010, in Aultman Hospital.
Born March 8, 1923, in Greenville, SC, he was a son of the late Charles Franklin and Irene Mae (Harbert) McAdoo.
He was a flight air engineer in the Army-Air Corp during WWII and served in the South Pacific. He was a member and director of the Carroll County Gang and played steel guitar for over 70 years. He worked in construction and was a bricklayer by trade. He helped build the Vet's Club building in the late 1960s.
He was a member of Carrollton Baptist Temple and laid the brick on both the old and new buildings. He was a member of the VFW, a country music fan and raised fish at his farm.
He is survived by a son, Bob McAdoo of Greenville, SC; a daughter, Peggy McAdoo of Carrollton; his best friend, Ann Tolley of Canton; a sister-in-law, Ellen (Jack) Dawson of Carrollton; a niece, Marcie Fowler of Mt. Vernon and a nephew, Mike Dawson of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marjorie Mae McCartney, whom he married June 21, 1947, and who passed away Jan. 23, 1999.
Funeral services were held March 30 in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home in Carrollton with Pastor David Powell officiating. Burial was in Baxter's Ridge Cemetery with full military honors by VFW, DAV and American Legion. |
