Chester Warner, age 89, left this world to join his beloved wife of 65 years, Dorothy Jean Warner, Friday Feb. 24, 2012, at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala, FL, after a brief illness. Dorothy Jean Warner passed away Feb. 16, 2010.
Born June 22, 1922, in Amsterdam, he was a son of Bert and Grace (Burrier) Warner. Chet remained in Amsterdam until he and Jean moved to Ocala in1980.
A proud veteran of WWII, Chet stormed the beaches of Normandy as a member of the 294 JASCO Army Unit on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He was later stationed in Hawaii, ready to fight for our country again, when the war ended.
A coal miner with the Y and O Coal Company in Cadiz, OH, and a mechanic, there was nothing Chet couldn't fix. Devoted to his family, he exemplified the term "True Christian" with both words and actions. Chet was of Methodist faith.
Left to grieve are Jean and Chet's only child, Chester Ralph (Barbara) Warner; grandchildren, Amanda (Jerry) Lipham, Chelsea (Jeremy) Lipham, Ryan Warner and Michael Warner; three great granddaughters; nieces and nephews, especially, Eric (Jan) West; and George, Chet's trusty feline companion.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Warner, and his sister, Mildred Warner Arbogast.
There are no plans for a service and the family requests memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice, if desired.
