Harold R. "Bud" Wilkin, 86, 14 Tripplewood Dr., Mercer, PA, Coolspring Twp., Passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 7:50 PM at UPMC Greenville, PA
after an extended illness
Born February 2, 1924, in Dellroy, he was a son of the late J. C. Wilkin and Elizabeth Cassidy.
He retired from Tennessee Gas in 1988 after 35 years of service, as a Corrosion Technician. He was a member of the Mercer United Methodist Church and was a 1942 graduate of Dellroy High School. He was a dirt track, sprint car and NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon and the Blaney racing family. He was a Cleveland Brown fan.
He was a WWII Army Veteran, Staff Sgt., member of the 672nd Amphibian Tractor
Battalion. He received the American Theater Service Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater
Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
He is survived by his wife of the residence, the former Shirley Buehler, whom he married July 3, 1954; two daughters, Barbara Wilkin of the residence and her fiancé Donald
Livermore, and Lori (Timothy) Fowler of Mercer, PA; three grandsons whom he was very proud of, Cody, Trenton, and Trevor Fowler,
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Joseph, Samuel, Chester and
Jack Wilkin and a sister, Mary Easterday.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., in Mercer, PA, with Rev. Eric Leonard, pastor of the Mercer United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Findley Cemetery, Findley Twp. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Jan. 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
