Joseph (Joe) Webb
The streets of Amsterdam are missing the familiar face of Joseph (Joe) Webb, born June 4, 1934, in Steubenville, to the late Fred and Agnes Webb. Joe, 79, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, after a brief illness.
Joe was a 1953 graduate of Amsterdam High School. He was a member of the Amsterdam Church of God. He served in the US Army, until receiving an honorable medical discharge. He retired from Jefferson County Health Department, where he worked as a sanitarian for 32 years.
Joe loved his family, hunting, fishing, golfing, and bowling. He rolled the very first 300 game at Amsterdam's Garson Lanes in 1981.
Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Katherine (Everly) Webb; daughter, Sharon (Webb) Temple of Mingo Junction; son Roger (Marlene) Webb of Massillon; grandchildren, Morgan (Temple) Adkins, Austin Temple, Adam Webb, and Evan Seese; and great-grandson, Kendall Adkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fred Jr., Jack, and Owen; and three sisters, May Baker, Edith Kohler, and Irene Mills.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam with Pastor Bob Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville with full military honor provided by the VFW, DAV, and American Legion. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
