Nancy Carol (Henry) Wood

Nancy Carol (Henry) Wood, formerly of Scio, passed away December 24, 2011, at the Arbors at Fairlawn in Akron, OH, after a long illness.

Born June 17, 1942, she was a daughter to Wanda and Robert Henry in East Liverpool, OH, and graduated from Beaver Local High School.

Nancy was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.  Her greatest joy came in spending time with her family.  She enjoyed keeping up with current events and games and puzzles of all kinds.

A long time resident of Sebring, FL, Nancy was a top real estate agent in the area for many years. She was widely respected in her profession for her knowledge and integrity.  She truly enjoyed helping people find the home that was perfect for them and she always went the extra mile to make people happy.  As a result, most of her clients became her friends.  This impulse extended to everyone around her and she would not hesitate to offer help to anyone who needed it, whether they were friends, family or strangers.

Nancy faced the last difficult two years with courage, patience and an unflagging sense of humor, finding spots of joy and laughter even in the face of hardship. Her kindness, wisdom, compassion, and sense of fun will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother; a sister and brother; five children; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; an infant son; her son, Scott Govey; and her beloved husband of almost 38 years, Harold "Woody" Wood.

The family will be ever grateful to the staff at the Arbors for the wonderful care and kindness they showed Nancy at this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the March of Dimes Foundation which works to help mothers have healthier babies.  Learn more at marchofdimes.com.

Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. in Koch Funeral Home, Scio. Burial will follow in Fairview Gardens, Jewett. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
