Gene Raymond Baxter
Gene Raymond Baxter, 70, of Carrollton passed away unexpectedly in his home Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010.
Born July 14, 1940, in Carrollton, he a son of the late James and Ruth Dunbar Baxter.
He retired from Tennessee Gas as a chief operator. He was a veteran of the US Air Force from 1962-1970, member of the American Legion, life member of both the Carrollton Veteran's Club and Carrollton VFW. Throughout his life he was an avid car enthusiast.
Along with his wife of 44 years, the former Peggy Boring; he is survived by two children, Jeannie (Robert) Brooks and Alan (Laura) Baxter; four grandchildren, Austin Brooks, Olivia Brooks, Chase Baxter, and Kody Baxter; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Daugherty.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Baxter; and four sisters, Madeline Blue, Mary Finnicum, Freda Lechner, and Pauline Daugherty.
A memorial service will be held Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. in Carrollton Church of Christ Christian Disciples with Rev. Mike Doak officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion, DAV, and VFW. Visitation will be in the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the Carrollton Veteran's Club, 2038 Brenner Road NE, Carrollton, 44615. Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton was in charge of arrangements.
