Dean Thomas Dowdell

Dean Thomas Dowdell, age 75, of Carrollton, formerly of the Hanoverton area, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, in St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Born May 24, 1935, at Pine Grove Ridge in Jefferson County, he was a son of Elizabeth Mary (Kozora) Dowdell of Carrollton and the late James Lyman Dowdell.

He held a number of positions in the insurance industry from Independent Agent to General Manager.  He was a Hanover Township Trustee, volunteer fireman and a former member of Minerva Lions and Minerva Kiwanis.  He attended St. Phillip Catholic Church.

Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary Bridget Gruber who he married June 16, 1956; four children, Derek (Deb) Dowdell of Hanoverton, Nathan (Lori) Dowdell of Bergholz, Mark (Anitta) Dowdell of Yardley, PA, and Laurie (Earl) Stewart of Carrollton; six grandchildren, Ryan Dowdell, Reagan Dowdell, Nicolette Dowdell, Jenny Bickley, Jessica Wolfe and Melissa Shive and four great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Arnold and Paul.

Memorial donations in memory of Dean may be given to the American Heart Association.  Maple-Cotton Funeral Home in Kensington was in charge of arrangements.
