Audrey Ida Cain

Audrey Ida CainAudrey Ida Cain, 97, of East Springfield, OH, passed away at Sienna Woods, Wintersville, OH.

Audrey was born Dec. 2, 1913, in Amsterdam, OH, the eldest of seven children. She was the daughter of the late Ira Morgan and Myrtle Hawkins Morgan. Her husband J. Wendell Cain whom she married June 12, 1935 and who died Jan. 7, 2000, also preceded Audrey in death. Also preceding Audrey in death were her six younger siblings; Mary Dando, Daisy Hartsouk, Freda Allensworth Brandt, Florence Warner, D.I. Morgan and Arnold Morgan.

Surviving is her son, Gary W. Cain and his wife Margaret of East Springfield; two grandchildren, Michele (Joseph) DeBold and Brad L. (Tammy) Cain, all of East Springfield; five great grandchildren, Allison Debold, Eric DeBold, Devin (Justin) Richards, Taylor Cain and Shaylyn Cain; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.

Audrey was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Springfield where she held the positions of Sunday school teacher, Financial Secretary for 40+ years and past President of the Women's Fellowship Group.

Audrey was actively involved in the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as past Matron of the Unionport chapter as well as Deputy Grand Matron in 1966. She deeply respected her fellow Eastern Star members and maintained a life-long friendship with many of them.

Audrey served as the main bookkeeper for Gary W. Cain Realtors & Auctioneers until her retirement at age 86 from the family business. Prior to that, Audrey worked side by side with her husband for many years in the Cain Meat Market.

Audrey's interests included gardening, needlework and antiques, all of which she enjoyed with great passion and a deep knowledge.

Calling hours for Audrey will be at Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Amsterdam, OH, on Monday from 4-8 p.m., services at Christ United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Rev. Joshua Conley will officiate.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Christ United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 127, East Springfield, OH 43925.

 The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Figel, Hospice and the staff at Sienna Woods Care Center.
