Jerry W. Bradford

Jerry W. BradfordJerry W. Bradford, age 65, a resident of Bowerston Pointe Care and Rehabilitation Center, Bowerston, for the last two and a half years and formerly of Niota, TN, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 1, 2009, in the Center following a five-year illness.

Born Feb. 11, 1944, in Athens, TN, he was the son of Pauline Hafley Bradford of Niota, TN. and the late Paul Bradford.

He was employed as an electrician for many years.  Jerry enjoyed fishing and was the drummer and lead singer in a band called "The Spades" in the late 1950's.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his five children, Reese (Cindy) Bradford of Rockwood, TN,  Mrs. Bob (Felecia) Phillips and Mrs. Keith (Amy) Woodby both of Sweetwater, TN, Steven  Bradford of Athens, TN, and Nikki Bradford of Carrollton and seven grandchildren, Patricia Bradford of Rockwood, TN, Tyler  Phillips and Koty Daniel both of Sweetwater, TN, Leland  Bradford of Athens, and Kaitlynn Smith, Jordan DeCarlo, and Braydon Carper all of Carrollton.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. in Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville.  Jerry will then be transported to Athens, TN, where calling hours will be held Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. in Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, Inc. at 521 Jackson Street NE, Athens, TN, where funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Hicks and Evangelist Keith Woodby officiating. He will be laid to rest on Saturday Sept. 5, 2009, in Riceville Cemetery at Riceville, TN. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, 521 Jackson St. NE, Athens, TN 37303 to help defray funeral expenses.
