Wilda M. Staten

Wilda M. Staten, age 88, of Carrollton passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Canton.

Born July 15, 1922, in Stratton, OH, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Dillon) Furbee.

She retired from Scio Pottery, was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Carrollton and a caretaker for several people.  She enjoyed family, baking, yard sales and auctions and loved church, gardening and flowers.

She is survived by four sons, Robert E. Staten of Carrollton, Gerald (Gayle) Staten of Uniontown, Gary (Debra) Staten of Scio, and William (Penny) Staten of Dellroy; a daughter, Betty J. Bobby of Amsterdam; a brother, Walter (Josephine) Furbee of Bergholz; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two expected great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Staten, whom she married April 12, 1940, and who passed away Jan. 25, 2001; six brothers; three sisters and a son-in-law, George Bobby.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 14 at 11 a.m. in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home with Pastor Grace L. Baughman officiating.  Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carrollton Church of the Nazarene.
