Betty V. "Granny" Pierso

Betty V. "Granny" Piersol, 77, of New Cumberland, WV, formerly of Weirton, WV, and Amsterdam, OH, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, at Weirton Medical Center.

Born Aug. 21, 1933, in Marshall County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ollie and Helen Ritchea.

Betty was a homemaker who also worked at various jobs. She retired from Kishman's IGA in Carrollton, OH due to health problems. She was very active at Simmons Ridge Church and recently at New Cumberland Nazarene Church.

She is survived by Henry, her loving husband of 58 years; daughters, Debbie (Rick) Provenzano of New Cumberland WV, Diana (Jerry) Mayerich of Weirton, WV, and Pastor Julie (Allen) Eddy of Amsterdam; grandchildren, Rick (Becky) Provenzano and Michael (Brenda) Provenzano, both of New Cumberland, WV, Joe (Devinn) Provenzano of Chester, WV, Ashley Mayerich of Alexandria, VA, and Wesley Mayerich of Weirton, WV; great grandchildren, Brooke and Parker Provenzano and Michael Lee and Gage Provenzano, all of New Cumberland, WV,  and Chance, Prestinn and Brasinn Provenzano of Chester, WV; a sister, Martha Jean(Toots) DeGarmo of Claysville, PA; brothers, John (Mary) Ritchea of Beloit, OH and Raymond(Virgie)  Ritchea of Chatsworth, CA; and a sister-in-law Edna of Cleveland, OH.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter in June 1957: brothers, Ollie (Pete) Ritchea, Marvin (Buck) Ritchea, Robert Ritchea and a sister-in-law Alfreda Ritchea.

Betty "Granny" was a very special woman.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Due to her selflessly donating her body to science there will be no visitation.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, in New Cumberland Nazarene Church in New Cumberland, WV.
