Eber Whitman

Eber Whitman, 49, of Amsterdam went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 19, 2012.

He was a son of the late Lillian Marie Pettit and Charles Raymond Whitman.

He was a member of Amsterdam Covenant Church.  He proudly served his country and faithfully served his Savior Jesus Christ. Everyone who knew him will sadly miss him.  He is now dancing in Heaven.

Eber loved his family and friends and most of all Jesus.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Whitman, whom he married Jan. 3, 2004; four children, Mike, Heather, Ariel, and Brianna; grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Rush, and Jay Dee and Dillon Whitman; brothers and sisters, Chas (Darlene) Whitman, Mary (Leroy "Mister") Gouveia, Doug (Christy) Whitman, Raymond (Anita) Whitman, and Elly (Dave) Lenkey; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe.

In accordance to Eber's wishes, there will be a memorial service Sunday, March 25 at 2 p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam with Pastor Mike Thurston officiating and full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Huntington Bank in Bergholz in care of the Eber Whitman Memorial Fund.
