William A. "Bill" Tauzel, Sr.
William A. "Bill" Tauzel, Sr., 84, passed away Feb. 25, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family.
Born May 4, 1927, in Meadowlands, PA, he was a son of the late Tony and Josephine (Dolence) Tauzel.
He enlisted in the US Navy May 17, 1944, and served on the USS Cimarron in the South Pacific until Feb. 17, 1946, when he was honorably discharged. He was a member of VFW Post 3301 and Eagles Aerie No. 2185.
He was employed throughout his life by The Milk Bottling Company in Carrollton, Evanite Plastics, Olin Plastics Corp., Ohio Poly Corp., LCP Plastics and Carrollton Farmer's Exchange. He was an avid bowler and golfer and loved playing euchre.
He is survived by his children, Bill (Loraine) Tauzel, Jr. of Carrollton, Joyce (Gary) Stine of Uniontown and Amy (Wilmer Nihart) Tinney of Kilgore; grandchildren, Katya Downs, Oksana Tinney, Heather Barcus, Angie Shaw, Lisa Mugrage, Kyle Barcus, David, Greg and Jennifer Stine and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jo, whom he married Dec. 5, 1969, and who passed away July 22, 2009; his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna Jane and Constintine Picknick; a brother-in-law, Fred Tauzel; granddaughter, Kelley Tauzel; and a son, Dan Downs.
A memorial and military service in honor of Bill and Jo will be held Sunday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Chase Rd., Carrollton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bill's favorite charities: The Disabled American Veterans and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
