Ernest James "Jim" Harper
Ernest James "Jim" Harper, 86, of Penny Rd., Carrollton died early Feb. 10, 2010, in his daughter's home.
Born Oct. 21, 1923 in Point Marion, PA., he was a son of the late Olie and Opal Shears Harper.
Jim grew up in Dellroy and was a graduate of Dellroy High School. He was a Navy veteran of WW II serving as a signalman on the USS Storm King. He was a retired contractor, woodworker, and stonemason. In 1972 he moved to Darby, MT., in the Bitterroot Valley where he remained until 2004 when he returned to Carrollton to reside.
Jim is survived by a son, David (Cindy) Harper of Montana; three daughters, Nancy (Michael) Grubb of Ariton, AL., Linda (Steve) Shotwell of Carrollton, Judith (Jerry) Pruiett of Wills Point, TX; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Harper of Magnolia; and one sister, Clara Zak of Akron.
He was preceded in death by one son, C. James Harper; one daughter, Lori Harper; two brothers, Ralph and Harold Harper; and one sister, Ruby McCarty.
A private memorial service will be held at a future date in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton handled local arrangements.
