Frank A.  Truman

Frank A.  TrumanFrank A.  Truman, age 94, a lifetime Sherrodsville area resident, died Sunday afternoon Dec. 26, 2010, in Carroll Golden Age Retreat at Carrollton.

Born May 19, 1916, in Monroe Township, Carroll County, he was the son of the late Henry Dayhuff and Nellie Elizabeth Long Truman, both of whom died before Frank reached the age of ten.  He was raised by his foster parents, the late Frank B. and Violet Rebecca Truman Stoody.

He retired September 30, 1978 from the former Warner-Swasey Company at New Philadelphia where he worked since 1953.  His primary responsibilities were in the Drilling and Boring Department.  He was a 1934 graduate of the former Dellroy High School, and a former member of the Atwood and Sherrodsville Granges, and still maintained his membership in the International Association of Machinists.  He was a member of the former St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church at Roswell until the parish was dissolved.  He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia and later became a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at Carrollton.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, Richard (Barb) Truman and Joanne Truman, both of Carrollton, Wayne (Lynda) Truman, Frankie (Sue) Truman, and Mrs. Bill (Carol) Truman Thomas, all of Cincinnati.

In addition to his parents and foster parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Wayne Francis, Wilbur, and Carl Henry Truman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 31 by Father Anthony Batt  in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery (Old Sherrodsville Catholic Cemetery). Calling hours will be held Thursday, Dec. 30 from 5 - 7 p.m. in Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville where a Scriptural Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Green, 44685.
