Robert (Bob) Price
Robert (Bob) Price, 86, died Thursday afternoon Dec. 22, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness of Parkinson's and other complications.
Born Jan. 7, 1925, in Marietta, he was a son of the late William and Pearl Noland Price.
He came to live in Carrollton as a young boy. His parents owned the Way Side Inn. He had fond memories of working there with his four brothers and sister.
He enlisted in the Army, March 1943, at 17 years of age. He served in North Africa and made the landing at Anzio. The Anzio landing left a lifetime impression on him.
He established Peacock Cleaners in 1945 and married Evelyn Hull, May 30, 1948.
Bob was a very active member of the community. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a founding member of Atwood Yacht Club and past Commodore, past president of Carrollton Rotary, Ambassador Shrine-Tadmor Akron, Carrollton Chamber of Commerce having been a past president, member of Carrollton VFW, and served one term on Carrollton Village Council.
He had a twinkle in his eye and a wonderful sense of fairness and fun. We are lucky to have had such a special man as husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; three daughters, Dorothy Albrecht of Carrollton, Cheryl Mowinckel of London, England, and Bobbi Glade of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, Evelyn Davis of Alabama, Roxanne Ibinson of Virginia, Nino Mowinckel of London, and Hedy Mowinckel of London.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 12 p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Dan Loomis officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery at Carrollton where full military honors will be provided by VFW, DAV, and American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until time of service.
