Mary A. Alexander
Mary A. Alexander, 82, of Bergholz died Friday morning, Dec. 2, 2011, at Valley Hospice in Steubenville after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 11, 1929, in Bergholz, she was the only child of the late Charles and Gersna Evanosky.
She was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amsterdam where she served on its parish council and was a member of the Catholic Women's Club. She enjoyed being part of the church quilters club. She retired after 20+ years of service with McBane Insurance Agency in Bergholz.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cathie and Bill Johnson of Wintersville, with whom she resided the last three years; a grandson whom she dearly adored, Chris (Niki) Johnson of Copley; and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Alexander, whom she married Oct. 29, 1949, and who passed away Oct. 19, 2004.
Friends may call at Blackburn Funeral Home, 2nd and Monroe Streets in Bergholz, Dec. 4 from 4-8 p.m. Rosary Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. and followed with vigil services at 7:45 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. by Father Jack McCoy at St. Joseph's Church in Amsterdam. Burial will follow in Bergholz Cemetery.
