John Richard "Dick" Scott
John Richard "Dick" Scott, age 82, of 102 Aster Road S.E., Carrollton, OH, died Saturday morning, Sept. 29, 2012, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a six-month illness.
Born Aug. 9, 1930, in Perry Township, Carroll County, OH, he was the son of the late Harry Matthew and Laura Gamble Scott.
Dick retired from the former Drexall Refractory in Carrollton where he was employed from 1965 until his retirement in 1980. In his later years, he had worked for the Farmer's Home Administration.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Perrysville United Methodist Church. He was a man of many and varied interests as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horse racing. He also was an auto racing enthusiast, a sport in which he used to participate, as well as building pulling tractors which were entered in competitions at local and state fairs. Dick was an animal lover who raised Beagles and Brittany Spaniels.
He is survived by his wife, Frances L. Bake Scott, whom he married Dec. 10, 1965; a son, Eugene M. (Mary E.) Scott of Magnolia; a daughter, Marlene K. Morgan of Carrollton; his two grandchildren, Danny Morgan and Kelly C. Morgan, both of Carrollton; and his sister, Mary I. Scott of Perrysville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Junior, Merle, and Bill Scott, and a sister, Lois Fish.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Oct. 3 in Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Tom Dawson officiating. Interment will follow in Perrysville Cemetery, where the Carroll County combined units of the V.F.W., D.A.V., and American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
