Homer Unkefer, age 98, of Minerva, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013.
Born Feb. 27, 1915, in Minerva, he was a son of the late Charles and Jessie (Jarrett) Unkefer.
He was president of Homer Unkefer Farm Machinery in Minerva, a 1934 graduate of Minerva High School where he was a member of the Alumni and Hall of Fame, and a 1939 graduate of The Ohio State University where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. He was a US Air Force veteran of WWII, member of Minerva Eagles Aerie #2199, and Minerva Historical Society. He helped found and was a director of Consumers National Bank, a member of Minerva YMCA and Minerva First Christian Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda (Mike) Simms of Lake Mohawk; and a son, Greg (Magdaline) Unkefer of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Corson) Unkefer, who died May 21, 2009; a sister, Mae Greenwood; and three brothers, Harry, Frank and Orin Unkefer.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. in Minerva First Christian Church with Rev. Dale Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
