Betty Grace Rutledge
Betty Grace Rutledge, age 89, of Carrollton passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, in Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Born Sept. 17, 1923, in Orange Twp., Carroll County, she was a daughter of James Wilbur and Nannie Elva (Brower) Campbell.
Betty was a cafeteria cook with the Carrollton Exempted Village School District and a lifetime resident of Carroll County. She belonged to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church where she was active in all phases of the church and a member of the Singing Christians. She was a 4-H advisor for Petersburg Future Homemakers for five years. She was a Gray Lady and belonged to Rebekah Lodge, Women's WCTU, and Petersburg Grange. She worked at the Kroger Store and Virginia Restaurant.
She is survived by three sons, Richard (Jill) Rutledge of East Rochester, Joseph L. Rutledge of Mantua, and Thomas V. Rutledge of Carrollton; a daughter, Mrs. Keith (Margaret) S. Brown of Alliance; four grandchildren, Morgan Rutledge, Evan Rutledge, Amanda Brown and Michael Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rutledge, whom she married June 1, 1946, and who passed away Feb. 27, 1984; a brother, Charles Campbell; and three sisters, Helen Buxton, Dorothy Johnson, and Marie Gorman.
A funeral service will be held Sept. 16 at noon in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 6-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral.
