William S. DeNoon

William S. DeNoonWilliam S. DeNoon, 75, of Bergholz, passed away Aug. 29, 2012, at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.

Born Nov. 26, 1936, in Brush Creek Township, he was a son of the late George and Bertha (Dowdell) DeNoon.

Bill grew up on a farm as a child. He had a vision of beginning a lumber business. He was hard working and determined. He quit school at a young age and began pursuing his dream. His business, DeNoon Lumber, began in 1963 with only three employees and grew to over 120 employees over the course of 50 years. He added Clayco Dry Kiln in 1989. DeNoon Lumber is shipped all over the world daily.

Bill was a faithful member and an Elder of Faith Community Church of Bergholz. He served his country by being a member of the National Guard. He was a founding member of Bergholz Community Foundation. His favorite hobbies included golf, fast cars, his love for his dogs, and spending winters in Florida. Bill was the first Man of the Year in Bergholz.
Among Bill's many accomplishments was how he cared for his employees and his community. He supported many foundations including Coats for Kids and Hounds Haven, which was dear to his heart.

He was an avid reader with a strong interest in World War II. His other interests included the stock market, ping-pong, and travel. He and his wife Janie spent winters in Florida and traveled extensively. Their journeys took them throughout the United States and Europe.
He taught his children to value hard work and to believe in God. Everyone knew Bill as a man of honor and determination. His generosity was known throughout his community. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and husband. His legacy will be long lasting in his family and community. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Janie (Dillon) DeNoon whom he married Aug. 23, 1956; son, Billy (Merri) DeNoon of Bergholz; daughters, Laurie (Curt) Croskey of Bergholz and Cindy (Al) Thompson of Carrollton; brothers, Fred of Carrollton, Howard and Carl DeNoon, of Salineville; sister, Mary (Bob) Champion of Bergholz; six grandchildren, Clay (Mindi) Croskey of Bergholz, Nikki (Jason) Klein of Cuyahoga Falls, Brandi DeNoon of Richmond, Chelsea (Andy) Weyand of Akron, Zach Thompson of Stow, and Jenna DeNoon of Steubenville; seven great grandchildren, Sidney and Clare Croskey, Landon and Gabi Sunyoger, Nadia DeNoon, Brycen William Klein, and Dylan Weyand; his golfing buddy, Bob Walker; and his five dogs whom he loved dearly, Lulu, GiGi, Peppy, Livy, and Little Buddy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Georgia Shepard.
Friends may call Sunday from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Faith Community Church, St Rt 564, Bergholz.  Funeral services for Bill will be held at the Church at 5:30 p.m. Sunday following visitation with Pastor Rick Chappell officiating.

Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hounds Haven, Dillonvale, OH and Faith Community Church of Bergholz.
