Jo Ann Powell

Jo Ann Powell, 73, of Pageant Rd., Carrollton passed away July 31, 2009, in her home.

Born March 13, 1936, in Zanesville then moving to the Canal Fulton area, she was a daughter of the Clarence and Opal Swisher.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard E. Powell, whom she married Dec. 5, 1952; three daughters, Jolee Getz of Massillon, Jerri Stimmel of Fairlawn and Clarissa (Gary) Tuttle of Lisbon; a son, Michael Powell of New Port Richey, FL; 16 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Gebie Berens of Newark and Dawn Hale of Massillon and one brother, Dick (Maxine) Swisher of Berlin.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Powell, who died in 1982.

Funeral services were held Aug. 5 in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Mike Doak officiating.  Burial followed in Baxter's Ridge Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to Hospice of Carroll County, 1040 Trump Rd, NW, #B, Carrollton, 44615.
